Job Description

Are you familiar with the world of business events and conferences? For our client, we're seeking a dynamic individual to step into the role of Head of Marketing, Engagement and Events. This pivotal position entails overseeing the management of all facets of our client's events and marketing initiatives. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll craft and implement strategies aimed at enriching community engagement, fostering revenue growth, and bolstering our client's global profile. Leading a dedicated team, you'll be instrumental in delivering unparalleled event experiences and executing impactful marketing campaigns.


Key responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, leveraging comprehensive internal and external assessments to guide decision-making.
  • Oversee the seamless coordination of internal operations, ensuring flawless execution of events and top-tier service delivery across logistics, registration, accommodations, and PR activities.
  • Manage budgetary planning and expenditures meticulously, contributing insights to budget development and exercising vigilant oversight to achieve financial objectives responsibly.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders, including team members, members, associations, suppliers, and other external partners.
  • Lead and support a dedicated team, providing guidance, coaching, and motivation to foster their professional development and ensure optimal performance.
  • Spearhead recruitment efforts and conduct interviews to identify top talent, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and a cohesive team environment.
  • Proactively identify and address operational bottlenecks, proposing solutions to executive leadership to facilitate informed decision-making and optimize internal processes.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership on key initiatives, offering insights and recommendations to enhance event management and marketing strategies.
  • Provide support and guidance to Regional Directors and colleagues as needed, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the organization.
  • Monitor industry trends, target demographics, and conference opportunities, informing strategic decisions and optimizing event planning and marketing efforts.
  • Ensure the timely fulfillment of agreements and commitments with stakeholders, fostering trust and collaboration to drive positive outcomes for our client.

Key requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Min, 5 years of experience within a broad management function, leading cross-cultural teams
  • 10 years of experience in a marketing or commercial function, and knowledge of the events industry 
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills 
  • Business fluency in English, both in speaking and in writing 
  • Ability to work in a hybrid way and commute to the office in Amsterdam 
  • Occasional business travel for key events/conferences
